Multi Function Remote Controllers

The can be available as 2 or 3 button remotes. These remotes are really cool because they can operate several garage door openers at once and the better ones can be equipped with a security system. You can find these remotes at many websites. They also make these in “mini” models that do the same thing but come small enough to fit on your key chain. You can also get a model that comes with a light attached to it for nighttime application. Very nice feature to have.

Electronic Reversing Device (ERD)

Is is a cool feature that comes on many commercial Liftmaster garage door openers. If the door or gate ever comes into contact with a vehicle while it is closing than it automatically re-opens. If it comes into contact with a vehicle while it is opening, it stops, reverses a couple inches and then it stops again. If your garage door did not come with this feature I would think about getting it. I have backed up into my garage many times before.

Photo Eyes (Sensors)

You can get these for residential or commercial applications. These photo safety sensors are designed to sense an obstruction and signal the garage door to go into reverse. They are usually fast and easy to install. You should really get one of these parts as a safety measure to prevent injuries especially if you have kids.

Treadle

This is another type of garage door sensor but one that you can actually put on the ground and when a car drives over it a signal is sent to close the garage door. Really cool device that makes having a remote halfway useless.

Noise Isolators

Heavy duty rubber isolators that can aid in preventing a lot of noise for your garage door and they absorb vibration.

There are some things that are worth investing into. You know, those things that make your life way easier. And the truth is that the little things count. For instance, why strain yourself lifting that heavy garage door after getting from a tiresome day at the job when you can always use a garage door opener?

And from the wide range of openers available, one of the most popular of them all is the remote operated Genie garage door opener. You will be able to open the door of your garage just by sitting inside your car, you will never have to get out of it.

Installation is not very difficult either. For an ambitious person with some mechanical skills and a set of tools, it should be a walk in the park, especially since the manuals that all Genie openers come with are really good and provide with plenty of information. If you still are not sure about what you are doing, how about calling a friend or a neighbor over to help?

The Genie garage door opener is built in such a way that it meets all the security guidelines, so the protection of your garage is guaranteed. An interesting and undoubtedly useful feature is the automatic reversal system. This means that whenever the door of the opener encounters an obstacle for more than 3 seconds, it will turn back on its tracks. For even more additional security, a vacation lock is incorporated into the opener.

This is a short summary of the most important features of the Genie garage door opener. It is certainly a very viable option for your garage, so make sure that you take it into serious consideration.

You need to buy a Liftmaster if you are going to buy a safety sensor for your garage door. You can install it yourself in 10-15 minutes.

It is highly recommend that your purchase a liftmaster safety sensor for your garage door opener. Liftmaster safety senors are some of the best sensors you can buy. I have used them and have heard nothing but great reviews about them. They are compatible with all fail safe units. You might want to think twice about getting a Genie Universal product at Lowes or Home Depot. They do not match everything and you may run into problems..

You can pay a garage door repair service to come and install it for $80 or you can do it yourself. It will take you 10-15 minutes max. You will have to use the supplied wire splicers to replace your old sensors but it’s not difficult. Align the sensors using the alignment indicator lights. Then throw away the old sensors.
Really simple to install. Purchasing this lit and spending about 15 minutes in the garage is well worth the savings

A popular Garage Door Opener and Garage Door Opener Parts company, Skylink, has released a garage door opener that is extremely quiet compared to others.

Does your garage door opener sound like a jet taking off every time you open and close it? If you answered yes, it’s time you switched to one of Skylink’s new residential garage door openers.

The Skylink Group — a leader in wireless technology and garage door remotes — has launched a series of new Quiet Door Openers. The Easy/Quiet models employ a soft starting and stopping motor operation which prevents that loud jet-sound many homeowners are used to. The Easy/Quiet Door Opener will be rolled-out in three different models, EQ-1511, EQ-1522 and EQ-1722. All models have the following features:

– Optimal self learning force, which detects any obstacles
– Automatic light dimming
– Rolling code technology
– Safety Durable chain drive

“The products were designed with the consumer in mind — not only is it quiet, but it’s easy to install and use,” noted Philip Tsui, CEO of Skylink. “Skylink is proud to have its name on these two tiers of residential garage door openers.”

As a step up from the Easy/Quiet system, Skylink is also unveiling their Intelligent/Quiet models. The Intelligent/Quiet Door Opener will be available in two different models, IQ-1523 and IQ-1723, which employ all the same features as the Easy/Quiet models, plus an intelligent wall console. The console provides a programming interface, timer and vacation locks, an event log which memorizes when the 10 previous garage door opener activations occurred and a diagnostic message display.

“As a leader in home access solutions, we know the importance of providing homeowners with convenience and security. Consumers will never have to climb a ladder again in order to re-program their openers. A garage door opener that safely and securely opens and performs is truly a benefit,” added Tsui.

Skylink’s Easy/Quiet and Easy/Intelligent Residential Garage Door Opener systems are priced from $159.99 (U.S.) and are available worldwide. Skylink also offers a professional line of garage door openers with a sold rail. For more information, please visit Skylink at www.skylinkhome.com or contact via telephone at 800-304-1187.
